Chabaud
Maison de parfum from Montpellier.
Chabaud Maison de Parfum was founded in 2002 in Montpellier by Christophe and Sophie Chabaud, a couple who had previously run several clothing and home-decor shops in the city. Sophie trained at the Paris perfumery school Cinquième Sens and supplemented her studies with classes in Grasse, beginning with candles and home fragrance before moving into eau de parfum. The house occupies a quiet corner of French perfumery: family-run, attached to the Languedoc rather than Paris or Grasse, and built around plain bottles with handwritten labels. Compositions favour clean, legible structures — vanilla, fig, white tea, fresh florals, lightly gourmand woods — without the heavy luxury hardware of niche peers. Chabaud sells primarily through its own boutique and selected European retailers, and the brand's appeal comes more from the wearable, southern-French sensibility than from any aggressive editorial line.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
