Eight contradictions, one true self.
Contradictions in ILK was co-founded in the UK in 2020 by Annabella Fasano-Leslie and Holly Hutchinson, two creative practitioners with backgrounds in fashion and branding who approached niche perfumery as a conversation between opposing principles. The house name signals the core creative proposition: each of the eight fragrances in the collection embodies an internal contradiction — calm aggression, familiar strangeness, sweet darkness — that the wearer inhabits rather than resolves. The founders worked with skilled perfumers to translate conceptual paradoxes into technically accomplished compositions, grounding the intellectual framework in material reality. The brand launched into a crowded British niche market but differentiated through sharpness of concept and visual rigour. Hutchinson would later found EAU MG as a separate project. Contradictions in ILK remains a coherent artistic statement about identity, selfhood, and the multivalent nature of personal fragrance.
