Coquillete
Franco-Italian niche house born from the friendship of two self-taught perfumers in Paris.
Coquillete was born in autumn 2012 from the creative partnership of Elise Juarros, French, and Rosa Vaia, Italian—two young women who met in Paris while creating fragrances for fashion brands and discovered that their shared ambition to make something entirely their own was reason enough to found a house. The name comes from Elise's childhood nickname, a word evoking playfulness and curiosity while also conjuring, with gentle wit, a small pasta shape—Italian in origin, Parisian in context, entirely characteristic of a brand that wears its lightness deliberately. Each Coquillete fragrance is handmade in Italy using genuine and high-quality materials, producing a range that embodies what the founders call a brilliant alliance of Italian elegance and French haute-parfumerie know-how. The compositions are confidential in distribution—sold through a small number of carefully selected boutiques—and exclusivity is a stated value rather than a consequence of limited resources. The house occupies the territory where artisan and luxury meet: not mass-produced, not mass-distributed, but not hermetically difficult to approach either. The Coquillete portfolio draws geographic inspiration from across the globe—Herat, Sulmona, Moramanga, Sumatera—building an itinerary of imagined places that speaks to the founders' sense that fragrance is one of the most direct routes into another culture's sensory memory. For a house celebrating Italian craft and French structure, there is something telling in the fact that it looks outward rather than inward for its narratives.
