Declaration Grooming is an artisan wet-shaving and fragrance company founded in 2015 by Scott Stewart in Ferndale, Michigan, operating under the name L&L Grooming before rebranding to its current form. Stewart built the business entirely by hand, developing a tallow-based shaving soap formula alongside vegan alternatives and releasing the first scent — a sandalwood and bergamot composition called Original — in matching soap and aftershave. The early formulation work led to the celebrated Milksteak soap base in 2016, which became a benchmark in the wet-shaving community for its lubrication, cushion, and longevity. Stewart's scent aesthetics draw on classic barbershop accords as well as more adventurous territory — cedar, smoke, green herbs, winter spice — and he creates the fragrances himself, making Declaration Grooming a true perfumer-run house within the niche world of artisan grooming. The brand distributes internationally through specialist retailers and maintains a devoted community of traditional wet shavers who value the directness of buying from the maker.
