Decorté
Japanese luxury beauty rooted in biotechnology.
Decorté was created in 1970 as the prestige flagship of Kosé Corporation, the Tokyo-based beauty company founded in 1946. Conceived by Yasukiyo Kobayashi, the line was positioned from the start as a near-bespoke luxury experience: its earliest products came in twenty-karat gold cases and carried price points that placed them among the most expensive cosmetics in Japan. The house is credited with launching the world's first commercial liposome skincare range in 1992, a technical achievement that influenced the entire industry. Originally known as Cosme Decorté, the brand simplified its name after a 2016 global relaunch that brought it to Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, and Europe. Its fragrance work carries the same philosophy as its skincare — disciplined Japanese aesthetics, premium materials, and a restrained sensibility that resists the loudness common in Western prestige perfumery.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
