Detaille
Parfumerie Parisienne depuis 1905.
Maison Detaille opened at 10 rue Saint Lazare in Paris in 1905, founded by Marie-Aline Detaille, Countess of Presle, after she asked the chemist Marcellin Berthelot to formulate a moisturizing balm for her face — the wind dried her skin during automobile rides. That product, Baume Automobile, made the house, and the original 9th-arrondissement shop is still operating with its early-20th-century woodwork, mirrors, and order books in place. The house's signature fragrance, simply named 1905, is a chypre floral that has been continuously produced since the founding year. Detaille remains family-scale, sold mostly from the Paris boutique and a small handful of historical-perfumery retailers. It suits wearers drawn to Belle Époque continuity rather than contemporary niche experimentation — a brand that survived because it never tried to be more than what it began as.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
