DIWAN
Greatness inside.
DIWAN is an Egyptian niche perfumery founded in 2022 by Mohammed Mukhtar, whose origin story in fragrance reaches back to a childhood encounter with Egyptian jasmine that flooded the air of his village for hundreds of metres from a nearby farm. That formative sensory memory drove him toward perfumery as a vocation, eventually facilitated by a friend with senior connections to the world's leading raw fragrance manufacturers and by Dr Walid Husseini, an Egyptian botanist who helped him build locally fabricated extraction and blending equipment. DIWAN's philosophy draws a structural parallel between fragrance and music: aromatic notes are treated as tones that form compositions the way a musical ladder forms melodies, a framework that shapes both the creative process and how the fragrances are communicated to consumers. All compositions are vegan and never tested on animals. The name evokes the Arabic literary and courtly tradition of the diwan — a collection of verses, a gathering place — lending the house a poetic identity rooted in the cultural depth of its Egyptian origins.
