Durance
The soul of Provence, captured in fragrance.
Maison Durance was born in 1997 when a family passionate about fragrance took over a small working farm in Grignan, a hilltop village in the heart of Drôme Provençale, where lavender was already growing and essential oil was already being distilled. Led today by Nicolas Ruth and his team, the house has grown into an internationally admired producer of scented candles, home fragrances, perfumes, and natural body care, all made by hand at the Grignan site using techniques inherited from Provençal artisanal tradition. Ninety-five percent of ingredients derive from natural origins, and master perfumers from nearby Grasse collaborate on every new composition. The brand's aesthetic is unhurried and botanical — lavender, rose, fig, honey, and the dry warmth of garrigue countryside running through collections that shift with the seasons. Durance occupies an elegant middle ground between fine perfumery and the living house, offering products that transform domestic rituals into quiet acts of pleasure.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
