Ellis Brooklyn
Clean luxury fragrance for the modern everyday.
Ellis Brooklyn was founded in 2015 by Bee Shapiro, a former beauty editor at The New York Times who, while pregnant with her daughter Ellis, found herself unable to locate fine fragrances that met clean ingredient standards without sacrificing the sophistication she expected from prestige perfumery. The house's name joins that of her daughter with the Brooklyn neighborhood where Shapiro built her life. In collaboration with award-winning perfumer Jérôme Epinette, Shapiro crafted a range of Eau de Parfums adhering to strict clean formulation principles — free from a defined list of ingredients considered potentially harmful — while delivering the complexity and longevity of conventional luxury fragrance. This dual commitment to transparency and quality set Ellis Brooklyn apart in a category where clean positioning often came at the expense of depth. The brand sells through Sephora, Ulta, Credo Beauty, and its own direct channels, reaching a mainstream prestige audience without abandoning the values that motivated its founding. It has become a benchmark for the clean-fragrance category in the American market.
