Ensar Oud
Artisanal oud distilled at the source.
Ensar Oud is an artisanal house specialising in agarwood — the resinous heartwood whose oil, oud, has been prized in Arab, Indian and Southeast Asian perfumery for centuries. Founded in 2004 by Ensar Oud (originally under the name Oriscent, rebranded in 2012), the house built its reputation by sourcing wild agarwood directly from forests across Cambodia, Laos, Borneo, Papua and Assam, and distilling small batches by traditional hydrodistillation rather than industrial methods. The catalogue ranges from pure single-origin oud oils to layered attars and alcohol-based perfumes, and prices reach into the thousands per tola for the rarest distillations. Compositions emphasise the natural complexity of the raw material — barnyard, fruit, leather and incense facets that mass-market oud rarely captures. Ensar Oud appeals to collectors and connoisseurs willing to study a material rather than wear a finished accord, and to wearers drawn to the slow, meditative side of perfumery.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
