Ermetiche Fragranze

Ermetiche Fragranze was founded in Italy in 2019 by Raffaella Meccheri, who serves as both creative director and perfumer. The name — 'hermetic fragrances' — invokes a tradition of sealed, alchemical knowledge passed between initiates, signalling that these compositions are made for engaged, attentive wearers rather than passive consumers. Meccheri's work draws on the rich Italian tradition of artisanal creation while refusing the regional clichés that burden some Italian indie houses — no generic Mediterranean references, no Italian-landscape marketing. Instead, the house centres the work itself, with each composition functioning as a document of Meccheri's creative thinking at a specific moment. The 2019 founding places the house at the beginning of a significant period of growth for Italian indie perfumery, as international interest in non-Parisian niche production expanded. Ermetiche Fragranze distributes through carefully selected niche retailers, maintaining small-scale production that allows genuine craft attention.
