Essentially Me

Essentially Me is the fragrance project of British natural perfumer Alec Lawless, who founded it around 2010 as a vehicle for exploring purely natural perfumery on his own terms. Lawless is also a prominent figure in natural perfumery education, known for his writing and workshop teaching, and Essentially Me reflects that dual identity: the compositions function both as commercial releases and as demonstrations of what all-natural formulation can achieve at a serious level. The house works exclusively with botanical extracts, essential oils, and animal-free natural bases, rejecting synthetic aroma chemicals entirely. This constraint shapes the olfactory character of the portfolio — warmth, complexity, and a certain organic unpredictability that synthetic ingredients would smooth away. Essentially Me is distributed directly and through specialist natural perfumery retailers, serving a committed audience for whom ingredient integrity is non-negotiable.
