Expand / エクスパンド
Japanese importer and creator of prestige perfume and cosmetics.
Expand (エクスパンド) is a Japanese fragrance and cosmetics company founded in 1998 and headquartered in Japan. The company operates a portfolio of inexpensive, image-driven scent lines aimed at the domestic young-women's market — Magic to Love, Airly Time, Happyholic, LOVE & PEACE, and VIA PARIS among them — distributed primarily through Japanese drugstores and variety retailers. The compositions sit firmly in mass-market territory: light, sweet florals, soft fruity musks, and clean white-flower accords designed for the kawaii-adjacent presentation Expand favours, with packaging that often nods to fashion mascots and pop graphics. Individual perfumer credits are rarely published, and the brand is more recognisable through its packaging codes than its olfactory authorship. Expand has limited footprint outside Japan, but the parent company continues to extend the catalogue with seasonal launches and licensed character collaborations.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
