Farmacia Ss. Annunziata 1561
A Florentine apothecary with an unbroken history since 1561.
Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561 is one of the oldest continuously operating apothecaries in Florence, founded in the sixteenth century near the Basilica della Santissima Annunziata. For centuries the pharmacy produced medicinal preparations and beauty products for Florentine noble families; the modern perfume and cosmetics line is a direct continuation of that artisanal heritage. Fragrances are developed in collaboration with perfumers including Arturetto Landi, Luca Maffei, and Carmen Grillini, drawing on Florentine botanical traditions — iris, rose, cypress, juniper — that have defined Tuscan perfumery for centuries. The apothecary's retail space on Via dei Servi remains operational, functioning simultaneously as pharmacy, fragrance boutique, and living museum. The product range extends to skincare, body preparations, and home scents, all sharing the same heritage-driven Florentine aesthetic. Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561 occupies a distinct niche as a genuine historic institution rather than a nostalgic brand construct, making it of particular interest to collectors drawn to provenance and unbroken artisanal lineage.
