Ffern
Restore perfumery to its artisan roots.
Ffern was founded in 2017 in Somerset by siblings Owen Mears and Emily Cameron, and operates on a model unusual for fragrance: four releases a year, one for each solstice and equinox, sold only to members of a waiting-list ledger and discontinued at the end of the season. The first scent shipped in winter 2018. The perfumes are composed by François Robert, a fifth-generation French nose, alongside his protégée Élodie Durande, and are built almost entirely on certified-organic naturals — hay absolute, beeswax, oakmoss, neroli, English honeysuckle. Bottles are unlabelled apothecary glass with seasonal cards, deliberately stripped of conventional marketing identifiers. The house suits wearers who want naturals-led perfumery, the seasonal-release rhythm of small-batch food producers, and a quieter alternative to the standard niche launch calendar.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
