Floral 4 Seasons / フローラル・フォーシーズンズ
Gentle Japanese floral fragrances for everyday life.
Musashino Works, a small independent perfume company established in the Musashino region of Tokyo in 1996, launched the Floral 4 Seasons line in October 2000 specifically to address what its in-house perfumer saw as a gap in the Japanese market: fragrances composed for Japanese skin, Japanese climate, and a Japanese sensibility about restraint. Where European and American perfumes arriving in Japan tended toward projection and intensity, Floral 4 Seasons was designed to be subtle, gentle, and integrated into daily life. The line takes its inspiration from the flowers of each Japanese season — lily of the valley, lotus, plum blossom, Japanese hyacinth — and renders them with a delicate accuracy that often borders on transparency. Musashino Works also employs a distinctive creative method: perfumers develop compositions outdoors in the field rather than exclusively in a laboratory, ensuring that the completed scents carry the texture of lived experience in nature.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
