Fragrifert
Wellington perfumery reviving the work of a Victorian nose.
Fragrifert is a New Zealand artisan perfume house founded by Francesco van Eerd and based in Wellington, producing original fragrances alongside reconstructions and reinterpretations of Victorian-era perfume formulas. The Victorian revival element is unusual in the antipodean market and gives the house a distinctive historical dimension: van Eerd researches historic recipes and translates them into wearable modern compositions, bridging nineteenth-century English and French perfumery traditions with contemporary technique. New Zealand's relatively young artisan fragrance scene makes Fragrifert something of a pioneer in its local market, operating without the networks of European or North American indie perfumery. Distribution runs through the brand's own website, which handles both New Zealand domestic orders and international shipping to the small but engaged global audience interested in historical fragrance reconstruction. The house produces a modest catalogue suited to its artisanal capacity, with van Eerd maintaining close involvement in all productions. For collectors drawn to historic fragrance and Southern Hemisphere independent perfumery, Fragrifert occupies a genuinely singular position.
