Gabriela Sabatini
The Gabriela Sabatini fragrance line was launched in 1989 in partnership with the Argentine tennis champion of the same name, whose international celebrity at the height of her playing career provided the brand with immediate global visibility. The inaugural feminine fragrance was composed by Harry Fremont and released through German fragrance house Muhlens, with Maurer & Wirtz later becoming the manufacturer and rights holder. The signature 1989 fragrance is a classic aldehydic floral oriental, built on a bright citrus-and-bergamot opening, a heart of jasmine, honeysuckle, and rose, and a warm base of sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and tonka bean. The structure reflects the conventions of late 1980s prestige women's fragrance while carrying the warmth and exuberance associated with the tennis player's on-court personality. Subsequent releases expanded into a broader line including flankers and two masculine compositions, Devotion and Wild Wind. The brand operates as a licensed celebrity fragrance, distributed through pharmacies, duty-free, and beauty retailers in Europe and Latin America at accessible price points.
