Ggema
Niche perfumery built around gemstone energy.
Ggema Paris was founded by Antwerp-based gemologist Ruth Méaulle and her former-banker husband Thomas Méaulle and debuted at Esxence 2023. The brand name is a variant spelling of gemma — the Italian and Latin word for gemstone — and the concept it names is earnest rather than merely metaphorical: precious stones are immersed in the fragrance concentrate during development so that, in the house's framing, the mineral energy and vibrational quality of the gem passes into the composition. The chromatic manifesto that anchors the line gives each fragrance a primary colour drawn from a gemstone — ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green, moonstone white — and the perfumers Shyamala Maisondieu, Jordi Fernández, and Julien Rasquinet are briefed to translate that specific chromatic energy into scent. The approach merges symbolism, crystal philosophy, and high craft in a way that will divide opinion, but the formulas have drawn praise for their ambition and material quality. The Méaulles previously collaborated on the Russian niche house Orlov Paris, and that experience informed Ggema's positioning at the upper end of the niche market. Bottles are conceived as wearable jewels; the full moons that punctuate the production calendar are not marketing copy but part of a genuine creative ritual in which the gemstones are recharged under moonlight.
