Gianfranco Ferré
The fragrance line attached to the eponymous Milanese fashion house founded in 1978 by Gianfranco Ferré, the architect-turned-designer often called "the architect of fashion" for the structured precision of his couture. The first signature women's eau de parfum appeared in 1984, opening a long run of bold, opulent floral and oriental compositions that mirrored the maximalism of his runway work. Ferré's perfumery — Ferré by Ferré, Gieffeffe, Lui-Lei, GF Ferre — has passed through several owners since his death in 2007 (IT Holding, Prodos Capital, Paris Group), with the fragrance licence handled by ITF Cosmetics. Recent decades have leaned into the lighter, fruitier idiom now standard in Italian designer perfumery, though older compositions retain their early-90s richness. It suits wearers who like their designer scent unmistakably Italian and unafraid of volume.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
