Gosh
Nordic mass-market cosmetics and fragrance since 1945.
GOSH Copenhagen traces its origins to 2 January 1945, when Einar Tjellesen founded Brdr. Tjellesen in Denmark, initially as a pharmaceutical company. The transition toward beauty began in 1979 with the launch of Night in Paris perfume, followed in 1982 by the first makeup products: mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. A breakthrough lipstick in 1984 shifted the company's identity firmly toward cosmetics, and subsequent decades brought international expansion to more than eighty countries. The fragrance line within GOSH Copenhagen operates at the mass-market tier alongside makeup, haircare, skincare, and body care, reflecting the brand's multidisciplinary structure. Fragrances are playful and accessible in character, designed for a broad European consumer base rather than a specialist fragrance audience. The company remains family-managed, with later generations of the Tjellesen family continuing operations. GOSH Copenhagen is best known internationally for its cosmetics, with fragrance as one component of a broader beauty portfolio. Products are distributed through pharmacies, beauty chains, and online retailers across Europe and beyond, with a consistent emphasis on vegan and cruelty-free formulation across all categories.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
