Initio Parfums Prives
Functional fragrances built for impact.
Founded in France in 2015, Initio Parfums Privés takes its name from the Latin for "beginning" — a nod to the house's founding premise that fragrance was never merely decorative. Drawing on Patrick Süskind's novel Perfume and on ancient Egyptian ritual uses of scent, Initio treats each composition as a functional substance capable of triggering emotional states: desire, confidence, well-being. The collections divide along ingredient philosophy. The Magnetic Blends work with molecules that interact with pheromonal perception; The Absolutes draw on high-quality natural raw materials; the Carnal Blends push toward unapologetically sensory territory. Layering between collections is actively encouraged. Perfumers including Maurice Roucel, Alberto Morillas, and Pierre-Constantin Guéros have contributed to the lineup, bringing classical technique to a deliberately provocative brief. Bottles are heavy, architectural, and free of overt house markings — the fragrance is meant to speak before the label does. At ultra-niche pricing, Initio occupies the space between specialist niche and luxury goods, with distribution through select retailers rather than department stores.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
