Mouson & Co. was established in Frankfurt in 1798 by August Friedrich Mouson, making it one of Germany's oldest continuing fragrance and cosmetics enterprises with a history spanning more than two centuries. The house grew through the nineteenth century as a manufacturer of cologne, soaps, and toiletries, earning particular recognition for its Mouson Lavendel cologne—a formula that became embedded in German household culture across multiple generations. The brand survived the upheavals of two world wars and German industrial transformation, maintaining mass-market distribution through pharmacy and drug retail channels.
