Jafra
Jafra Cosmetics was founded in Malibu, California in 1956 by Jan and Frank Day — the house name combining the first syllables of the founders' given names — as a direct-sales beauty company offering skincare, makeup, and fragrance through independent consultants. The model, modelled loosely on the Avon and Mary Kay approach, built a substantial following in Latin American markets, where Jafra eventually established its most significant customer base. The fragrance line spans orientals, florals, and fresh compositions designed for broad wearability and everyday use. Jafra's ownership has changed over the decades — the company was at various times part of Gillette and Vorwerk — and today operates as an independent direct-sales entity, continuing its strongest business in Mexico and Central America.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
