Karl Lagerfeld
Karl Lagerfeld launched his eponymous fashion label in 1984 alongside his work as creative director at Chanel and Fendi. The brand sat as Lagerfeld's personal signature — leaner, more graphic, more openly pop than his couture commissions — and produced ready-to-wear, accessories, and a long fragrance program from the start. Fragrance was central to the house from the early days: KL for Women in 1983, Photo, Lagerfeld Classic, Sun Moon Stars, and a series of perennials that traded on the designer's silhouette and signature white collar. After Lagerfeld's death in 2019, the company's fragrance license passed through Interparfums and the brand has continued releasing accessibly priced designer fragrances. The operating company is headquartered in Amsterdam, with the creative studio in Paris. G-III Apparel Group acquired a controlling stake in the brand in 2025.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
