Kenneth Cole
Kenneth Cole Productions was founded in 1982 in New York by the designer Kenneth Cole, who launched the company with a now-famous workaround: borrowing a parked truck on Sixth Avenue during market week to show his first shoe collection. From footwear the brand expanded into apparel, accessories and licensed product, building a recognisably urban-American aesthetic with a sustained line in social-issue advertising. Fragrance has been part of the business since the 1990s, produced under successive licensing partners and currently distributed widely through American department stores. Pillars such as Black for Him, RSVP and Reaction sit in mainstream-masculine territory — clean aromatic woods, fresh aquatic-spicy compositions, modest sweet-smoky orientals — at accessible designer prices. The house is now part of the Kenneth Cole brand portfolio, with fragrance positioned as the most broadly visible touchpoint of the label internationally.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
