KKW Fragrance
A direct-to-consumer celebrity fragrance experiment.
KKW Fragrance launched in November 2017 as Kim Kardashian's own perfume venture, distinct from the celebrity-licensing model that had defined the genre in the 2000s. Kardashian held ownership of the brand directly, designed the conception and packaging, and used social media as the primary marketing channel rather than department-store campaigns. The debut release was a trio of crystal-shaped flacons, followed by gourmand vanilla scents, body fragrances, and several themed collaborations including a line tied to her late father. Compositions ranged across sweet vanillas, light florals, and clean musks aimed at a young direct-to-consumer audience. The brand was wound down in 2022 as Kardashian rebranded her broader beauty operations, leaving KKW Fragrance as a closed but historically significant line in the celebrity-fragrance category.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
