La Via del Profumo
Natural perfumery rooted in Sufi practice and Italian botanicals.
La Via del Profumo — The Road of Perfume — is an Italian natural perfumery founded by Dominique Dubrana, a French perfumer who converted to Islam and took the professional name AbdesSalaam Attar, situating his fragrance practice within Sufi spiritual philosophy. Dubrana creates all fragrances using traditional attar production methods and natural materials, with alcohol-free botanical perfume oils as the preferred format — a choice that reflects both technical tradition and spiritual commitment. Operating from Italy, the house draws on the Mediterranean botanical world while honouring the historical continuity of Arabic and Persian attar culture. The fragrances are meditative and unhurried, built for personal ritual and contemplative wear rather than social projection. Dubrana's published writing on perfumery philosophy treats fragrance as spiritual practice — a discipline in which material knowledge and inner awareness are inseparable. La Via del Profumo maintains a small, devoted audience among fragrance collectors who value philosophical grounding alongside olfactory quality. The house represents one of the most genuinely cross-cultural propositions in natural perfumery: Italian botanical tradition, Sufi spiritual practice, and traditional Middle Eastern material knowledge synthesised into a single cohesive body of work.
