Ligne St Barth
Caribbean botanicals, French formulation.
Ligne St Barth was founded in 1983 by Hervé Brin and his partner Birgit Brin, who began production in their kitchen on the island of Saint-Barthélemy with ingredients drawn from the Caribbean's botanical heritage. The breakthrough product was an avocado oil and aloe vera gel that attracted immediate attention from the island's well-connected visitors — hotel guests, friends, and neighbours who spread word before commercial distribution existed. The house is distinctive for its use of roucou — the red seed oil of the annatto tree, a traditional Caribbean Indian sun and skin protectant — in several formulations, and holds an agreement with the last Caribbean Indian tribe for its ethical sourcing. Fragrances are built around tropical botanicals: coconut, roucou, aloe vera, vanilla, and island flowers. Formulation happens to French standards with natural ingredients from the Caribbean and beyond. The fragrance line is an extension of the skincare philosophy: warm, solar, and unhurried in character. The aesthetic matches its geography — the understated luxury of St Barth rather than the branded confidence of mainland French parfumerie.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
