Mandarina Duck
Italian travel-design, translated to scent.
Mandarina Duck was founded in 1977 in Bologna by Paolo Trento and Pietro Mannato. The label built its reputation on travel bags and luggage that turned plastic, rubber and synthetic textiles into something playful and design-forward — a counter-narrative to the leather-and-monogram orthodoxy of Italian luxury in that era. Fragrance arrived as a brand extension and stays close to the house's aesthetic: bright, citrusy, slightly tropical compositions in colourful, sculptural bottles, often pitched at a younger department-store audience. Releases like Mandarina Duck and Cute have leaned fruity-floral; men's pillars have kept to fresh aromatic territory. Production runs under standard fashion-licence arrangements rather than in-house perfumery. It suits a wearer who wants a cheerful, design-led Italian designer scent at the accessible end of the market — closer to a colour pop than a serious statement.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
