Miller Et Bertaux
Travel notebook turned into fragrance.
Miller et Bertaux was established in Paris in 1985 by Francis Miller, a painter and sculptor, and Patrick Bertaux, a fashion designer and his partner in life. They opened a shop in the Marais, originally selling clothes and objects brought back from travels across the world before the partnership turned to fragrance. The perfumes are direct translations of travel memory and artistic observation. Miller and Bertaux find images and stories in their lives, in movement between places, and in the tension between being and appearing, then ask perfumers to render those sensory impressions in scent. Collaborators have included Bertrand Duchaufour and Lucien Ferrero, both known for their ability to build unusual natural textures. Bottles carry handwritten lettering and illustration, reflecting the founders' visual backgrounds. In 2020, Francis and Patrick invited new owners to continue the brand, and production has continued under the original aesthetic. The house is distributed primarily through specialist niche retailers; NOSE Paris serves as a key stockist and partner. The work suits wearers interested in fragrance as a form of diary-keeping.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
