Missoni
Knitwear-house colour translated into scent.
Missoni entered perfumery in 1981 when the Gallarate knitwear house commissioned its first fragrance from Maurice Roucel, launching under Max Factor. Estée Lauder later held the licence before Euroitalia took over in 2014, overseeing the modern portfolio with perfumers Quentin Bisch and Christophe Raynaud producing the 2015 Eau de Parfum and the 2017 Parfum Pour Homme. The fashion brand's signature palette of zigzag colour and tactile warmth translates into fragrance through generous florals for women and aromatic-amber structures for men. Founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni after the couple met at the 1948 London Olympics, the company is rooted in Gallarate's knitwear district and built its reputation on the distinctive patterned knit that became a global fashion statement. Fragrances share the brand's characteristic warmth but are produced entirely through the licensee's structure rather than an in-house perfumery laboratory. The fragrance line remains a secondary but enduring part of the Missoni world, distributed through department stores and online retailers at accessible pricing consistent with the broader designer-fragrance segment.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
