Musicology
Fragrance as olfactory memory of music.
Musicology was founded in Paris in 2020 by Fabien Boukobza with a founding premise that fragrance and music are parallel arts, each capable of evoking emotion and memory through ordered sensory experience. The house works with perfumer Nathalie Lorson to translate musical concepts — rhythm, harmony, silence, crescendo — into compositional choices about note sequencing and material contrast. Releases reference specific musical traditions: a jazz-inflected accord might open on smoky citrus, resolve into brushed suede, and close on warm cedar. Packaging design mirrors the project's conceptual seriousness, with each bottle and box designed to evoke a record sleeve or a score. The house sits in the accessible segment of niche, making it a gateway brand for fragrance newcomers who approach scent through an existing love of music rather than a prior interest in perfumery.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
