Myrurgia
Spanish heritage perfumery, Barcelona since 1916.
Myrurgia was founded in Barcelona in 1916 by the sculptor and entrepreneur Esteve Monegal i Prat, and quickly became one of the defining names of early twentieth-century Spanish perfumery, with its Art Deco factory on Mallorca Street operating as a small architectural landmark for decades. Maja, the powdered floriental in its black-and-gold lace box, has been continuously produced since 1921 and remains the brand's signature. The house was acquired by Puig in 2000 and has been kept as a heritage line rather than actively expanded, releasing limited new compositions while preserving the catalogue of classics — Maja, Maderas de Oriente, Joya, Embrujo de Sevilla. Distribution today is concentrated in Spanish-speaking markets and in the kind of older perfumeries and pharmacies where mid-twentieth-century brands still find a steady audience.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
