Oriflame
Natural Swedish cosmetics
Oriflame was founded in Stockholm in 1967 by brothers Jonas and Robert af Jochnick alongside Bengt Hellsten, modeled on the direct-sales structure they had encountered in North America. The brand launched with natural ingredients and Scandinavian design as its central promises, positioning itself as a transparent alternative to conventional beauty products. Over decades, consultant networks expanded across Europe, Russia, Asia, and Latin America, turning Oriflame into a global direct-sales business. Fragrance is one of several categories in a broad portfolio spanning skincare, color cosmetics, and wellness. The fragrance line is predominantly accessible — clean florals, fresh citrus, and fruity oriental feminines — with more complex compositions in the Giordani Gold signature line. Formulations are contracted to external perfumers including Vincent Schaller, Françoise Caron, and Fabrice Pellegrin; the house has no in-house nose. Pricing reflects direct-sales economics, competitive with mid-range retail delivered outside traditional channels.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
