Ortigia
Sicily distilled into soap, scent, and light.
Ortigia is a Sicilian luxury beauty and fragrance house founded in 2006 by British entrepreneur Sue Townsend, who fell in love with the baroque island city of Ortigia in Syracuse while living there. The brand translates Sicily's extraordinary sensory landscape — its blood orange groves, jasmine-covered courtyards, salt-bleached shorelines, and ancient stone — into a tightly edited range of eau de cologne, soaps, body oils, and home fragrances. Working with master perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi in Florence, Townsend created signature scents such as Florio, Zagara, and Fico d'India that capture the island's warmth through citrus-forward, Mediterranean compositions. The packaging draws on Sicilian ceramic and arabesque patterns, giving each product the feel of a small artwork. Ortigia distributes through high-end department stores, specialty boutiques, and its own shops in Sicily and London. The house sits comfortably at the niche level, offering genuine artisanal quality embedded in a specific and deeply felt sense of place.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
