Oscar
American luxury fashion fragrance since 1965.
Oscar is the fragrance arm of the Oscar de la Renta fashion house, founded in 1965 by Dominican-American designer Oscar de la Renta. The debut fragrance Oscar, created in 1977 by perfumer Jean-Louis Sieuzac, became one of the defining feminine florals of the late twentieth century — a lush, opulent white floral that embodied the designer's vision of femininity and luxury. Subsequent releases including Ruffles and later accessible flankers expanded the brand's reach across prestige department stores. Perfumers of the calibre of Alberto Morillas and Jacques Cavallier Belletrud have contributed to the catalogue over the decades. The house represents a particular strand of accessible American prestige: formal, feminine, and rooted in the world of couture rather than street culture.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
