Osmofolia

Osmofolia is an independent artisan perfumery based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, creating small-batch, handmade, unisex perfume oils with a philosophy as unusual as its name — from the Greek 'osme' (smell) and 'folly'. The brand operates from a conviction that fragrance knowledge should be open access: Osmofolia publishes supplier lists, formulas, and accords on its blog and social media, treating perfumery as a communal craft rather than a proprietary art form. The house is distinctive for offering paired perfumes designed to be worn simultaneously, with two separate compositions working in harmonic counterpoint to create a whole greater than its parts. Concentration runs high — between twenty and thirty percent aromatic load in the final oil — and themes tend toward the literary, atmospheric, and emotionally precise: storm clouds, petrichor, memory, and the quiet drama of the natural world. Osmofolia belongs to a small tradition of American indie perfumeries that are as interested in educating their community as in selling them fragrance.
