Outremer
Classically French, Grasse-sourced, unhurried.
Outremer — formerly known as L'Aromarine — has been producing fragrances in the hills of Nice, France for over three decades. The house sources its raw extracts from two distinct suppliers in Grasse: one a large, internationally established firm, the other a small family-run operation, a pairing that gives the compositions a tension between polished scale and artisanal character. The range centres on single-material or minimal-accord eau de toilettes presented in Art Deco glass bottles that nod to early-twentieth-century Parisian elegance. The brand develops fragrances in small batches using methods more typical of luxury houses, while maintaining deliberately accessible retail prices — the Vanille eau de toilette, the house's perennial bestseller, retails for approximately $22 at 50 ml. That commitment to affordable quality has sustained a loyal international following for over twenty years, with the range distributed through specialty beauty boutiques across Europe and North America. The name change from L'Aromarine to Outremer aligns the brand's identity more closely with its French Mediterranean heritage, outremer being both a shade of deep blue and a term evoking distant shores. The aesthetic remains consistent: classically French, unpretentious, and built on well-sourced materials.
