Persephenie Studio
Ancient aromatic traditions reborn on the California coast.
Persephenie Studio is a Los Angeles-based aromatic atelier founded in 2004 by perfumer and aromatherapist Persephenie Lea, situated in a garden-surrounded space on South Fairfax Avenue. Persephenie draws her creative lineage from an unusually wide arc: Medieval Middle Eastern perfumery, early West Coast natural fragrance, traditional Indian attar manufacture from Kanauj, and California wellness culture. All compositions are made without synthetics or animal musks, built instead from a perfume organ exceeding one thousand natural essences and oils — some dating to the 1890s. The resulting fragrances are described as transportive, earthy, and strongly characteristic, leaning into complexity and longevity rather than mainstream approachability. Persephenie has taught natural perfumery and incense-making since 2006, making the studio as much an educational institution as a fragrance brand. The house holds Leaping Bunny certification, reflecting its founder's commitment to ethical sourcing throughout the supply chain.
