
Philosophy
Philosophy was founded by Cristina Carlino in Phoenix, Arizona as a skincare and bath line built around inspirational typography — every product label carries a short essay or aphorism. The brand was acquired by The Carlyle Group in 2007 and then by Coty in 2010, where it now sits within the prestige beauty division. The fragrance arm grew out of bath-product flankers — Amazing Grace, Pure Grace, Falling in Love — soft musky soliflores that read as freshly showered skin rather than perfume in the traditional sense. The clean, transparent style has become genuinely influential, anticipating much of the laundry-musk wave that followed it. Distribution is largely American through Sephora, Ulta and direct-to-consumer.
