Pineward
Olfactory tributes to the forest.
Pineward is an American artisan perfume house founded in 2020 by Nicholas Nilsson, a self-taught perfumer based in Colorado who began experimenting with raw materials while studying genetics at Brigham Young University. The label launched with two compositions, Steading and Fanghorn, and quickly attracted a following among collectors of forest-themed and conifer-driven fragrances. The house's signature is an unusually serious treatment of pine, fir, resin, moss and smoke, often layered with cured tobacco or dry incense to evoke specific landscapes — alpine clearings, log cabins, frozen rivers. In 2021 Basenotes named Pineward Best Artisan Fragrance House in North America. Production remains small-batch, sold mainly through the brand's own site and a short list of indie-friendly retailers.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
