Sarah Horowitz Parfums
Three decades of American indie perfumery.
Sarah Horowitz Parfums is a Los Angeles-based indie perfumery founded by Sarah Horowitz-Thran, one of the longer-running figures in American niche fragrance. Horowitz began composing custom blends as a student in Boston in the late 1980s, apprenticed at the Newbury Street apothecary Essence, and moved her practice to California in 1994, where she founded Creative Scentualization — the umbrella under which the Sarah Horowitz Parfums line later launched. The house works in a soft, warm-skin register: vanilla, jasmine, sandalwood, fig, light musks. Lines include SHP Evolution, the Perfect Perfumes, and What Comes From Within, alongside long-standing private-label work for Barneys, Anthropologie, and Fred Segal. The aesthetic is closer to American wellness perfumery than to European art-house niche, and the catalogue suits readers looking for comfort scents with named-perfumer authorship.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
