Scent by Alexis
Scent by Alexis was founded in 2006 by New York perfumer Alexis Karl, a self-taught nose whose work sits at the boundary between fragrance and art practice. Karl approaches composition as an artisan and a storyteller, blending unusual materials and conceptual frameworks into limited-edition, handcrafted perfumes that refuse the conventions of mainstream market positioning. Karl is also co-founder, alongside Maria McElroy of Aroma M, of House of Cherry Bomb — a Brooklyn-based artisanal perfume project that has become a celebrated name in American niche perfumery. The two have created immersive olfactory works for galleries and cultural institutions across New York while simultaneously developing their independent lines. Under the Scent by Alexis label, Karl's own vision shapes each composition: intimate, sometimes confrontational, always handmade in small quantities. The house's output is narrow by design and uncompromising by conviction. Scent by Alexis represents a strain of American niche perfumery that treats the perfume object as much as a creative statement as a consumer product, appealing to collectors and fragrance enthusiasts who prize originality over marketability.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
