Scent Salim
Leeds-based oud and Arabian-attar house.
Scent Salim was founded in Leeds in 2010 by Ilyas Salim, who began selling bespoke scents from his family home in the Harehills neighbourhood before opening a flagship store. The house specialises in oud and Arabian-attar traditions, with Salim sourcing aged agarwood oils directly from Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and the UAE. His attar collection spans both Arabian compositions and a series of British-themed attars paying homage to Leeds, Manchester, Yorkshire, and other cities of his adopted homeland. The business grew from specialist hobbyist origins into a destination for fragrance enthusiasts across the UK and internationally, attracting a clientele that has included YouTubers, musicians, Bollywood actors, and Kuwaiti royalty. Salim's deep personal knowledge of oud varieties is central to the brand's identity — he distinguishes between regional expressions of the material with the specificity of a serious collector. The attar line is developed by Salim himself without external perfumer credits. Scent Salim distributes through its Leeds store and its online shop, occupying a credible niche between traditional Arabian attar culture and the Western independent perfumery market.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
