Scent Trunk
Curated niche fragrance decants delivered monthly.
Scent Trunk is a Canadian fragrance subscription service founded in 2014 by Alex Lam, Connor Rowe, and William Yin through Queen's University's Summer Innovation Initiative, with the brand launching formally in January 2015. The concept emerged from a desire to democratise bespoke perfumery — using data-driven personalisation to match subscribers with indie and niche fragrances they might not otherwise discover. Beginning as a subscription box for men, the service expanded to include women's fragrances and eventually a broader personalisation platform, eliminating middlemen to offer premium scents at accessible prices. In 2018, Perfumer's Apprentice acquired the brand, providing manufacturing capabilities and a wide network of perfumers to support further growth. Scent Trunk has since evolved from pure subscription into a broader model encompassing personalized fragrances, seasonal indie releases, and various subscription tiers, serving customers in Canada, the United States, and beyond.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
