Sol De Janeiro
Love it. Flaunt it.
Sol de Janeiro is a New York-based body- and fragrance-care brand founded in 2015 by Heela Yang, Camila Pierotti and Marc Capra, drawing on Yang's years living in Rio de Janeiro and the inclusive beach culture she encountered there. The line is built around a recognisable house accord of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla that runs through its hero product, the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, and into the Cheirosa series of body mists and eaux de parfum. The Cheirosa fragrances — '62, '40, '68, '59 — became a defining Gen Z scent phenomenon in the early 2020s, marketed less as fine fragrance than as warm, social, body-led scent. L'Occitane Group acquired a majority stake in 2021, valuing the company at roughly $450 million, and the brand has since expanded its perfume range further into traditional eau de parfum territory.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
