Somens
Cultural memory in fragrance, distilled in Barcelona.
Somens was founded in Barcelona in 2020 by Georgina Ripollés with an ambition to translate Spanish cultural memory — literary references, visual art, the specific light and atmosphere of Catalonia — into perfume. The house works with a distinguished group of perfumers including Chris Maurice, Christian Carbonnel, Lucas Sieuzac, and Daniel Josier, each commissioned to interpret a specific cultural or artistic theme. Fragrances such as Llum and Terra carry evocations of place and emotion that are specific enough to feel genuinely authored rather than generically atmospheric. Packaging design reflects the house's artistic seriousness, with commissioned artwork on each bottle. Somens distributes through independent niche perfumeries and its own online store, building a profile in the European independent fragrance community that belies its recent founding. The house represents a new generation of Spanish niche perfumery that is beginning to attract international attention.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
