Sooud
The magnetic gaze of the Middle Eastern sentiment.
SoOud is a French niche perfume house founded in 2010 by perfumer Stéphane Humbert Lucas, conceived as a love letter to Middle Eastern perfumery before he launched his eponymous Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 line. The collection is built around oud, rose, saffron and amber, and is split between a denser Parfum Nectar tier — Hajj, Al Jana, Nùr, Burqa, Kanz — and the lighter Eaux Fines. The house's stated aim is to translate the heady, oil-based traditions of the Gulf into the structures of French perfumery: long maceration, smaller production runs and a focus on the interplay between dry resinous materials and dark, animalic accords. Bottles draw on Orientalist motifs in muted colour palettes, and distribution runs through specialist niche retailers in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
