Strange Invisible Perfumes
Botanical perfumery from Venice, California.
Strange Invisible Perfumes is a botanical fragrance house founded in 2000 by perfumer Alexandra Balahoutis on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California. The studio works exclusively with certified organic, wildcrafted, biodynamic, and hydro-distilled essences, refusing the synthetic palette that defines most contemporary perfumery. Each scent is hand-blended in small batches, aged for roughly six months, and bottled on site. The compositions tend toward earthy chypres, smoky florals, and dusky woods, drawing on materials such as Indian jasmine, Mysore sandalwood, and Tunisian neroli. Balahoutis' work has become a touchstone for collectors who want to understand what natural perfumery can achieve at its most disciplined. The house operates from a single boutique that doubles as production studio, where bespoke commissions are still part of the practice. The aesthetic is quiet, slightly mystic, and unconcerned with mainstream trends.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
